Hope my potatoes look like that when they have grown. The plant is looking decidedly worse for wear as it is providing the canapes for the slug and snail banquet 2008 at the moment. The tomatoes on the other hand seem to produce a new vine daily, just hope that they actually turn red at some point
This is what's so disheartening about growing vegetables so far North - we have struggling slug-infested plantlets while other people (you) have courgettes and cabbages, then the cold Spring and summer turn to wet autumn and the slugs finish off everything that hasn't already died.

We are also reaping benefits of our small veg garden. We do not like courgettes but let them grow into marrows which we chop up, steam and eat with a white sauce - yum yum!
They look lovely and I bet they tasted just as good too. We're now harvesting spuds and courgettes, but the slugs ate the cabbages, the blighters!
