I know, I know. Cute and furry - and that's just the dog....A rat with good PR is a fairly accurate description of Sciurus carolinensis - the Grey Squirrel. An American import from way before the days of rock 'n roll.
Not unattractive, acrobatic and entertaining it does have some good points, which to my mind they are far outweighed by the bad. Birds' eggs and nestlings make a nutritious supper as, mysteriously, does the electrical wiring in the roof space. Thus to my mind the only good squirrel is a dead squirrel.
After a brief rumble in the undergrowth the Brave Hunting Dog emerged with this. An ex-squirrel. Well done Chester. Good Dog.
n.b. This is not 'Hunting with dogs' - which will result in a severe penalty. This is the result of a dog hunting.

You're quite right of course - I do wish we had those.
I've only seen one'in the wild' once - and I shrieked so loudly with excitment that it scampered off at speed.
You dog looks so pleased with himself!
I saw a fair few red squirrels last summer - including one scampering over the A1. I love the way they move with their undulating tails ...
I have very happy memories of red squirrels in the church yard over the road from here when I was a child...
