OMG. The Sunday Times Style section - bless its preposterous, self indulgent, metro-centric self - has gone into overdrive. Whipped itself into all sorts of a tizz re some must-have interior accessories. Don't even get me started on a cushion costing £120 smackeroonies...even if it is entitled 'Boy with Coif'. Or an inflatable bowl.
However, here we have a fairly ordinary Ligne-Roset sofa - so far so good - sprawling, extensive and covered in - wait for it - 'a pixellated print'. See above. Gross or what? It might well be the most comfortable of couches but I can't begin to think of the interior where it will sit comfortably....But each to their own, I expect someone somewhere is waiting for this. I glanced at the price and it took a second or two for the reality to sink in: and that's £18,500.00 worth of reality.
What? £18,500.00?
Now it's the sort of thing that if I were to see it on the laid out on the tarmac next to a van at Tuffins Sunday Car Boot I wouldn't be at all surprised. Plus I'd get all the little extras: mouse nests, fleas and fag burns and an oleagenous je ne sais quois annointing every horizontal surface. What's more if if cost more than £18.50 I'd be surprised. There are bargains to be found in these parts.
I do hope my lack of appreciation of this 'hot' piece of furniture doesn't mean I'm turning into a hick from the sticks. What's so 'hot' about pixellated anyway? Discuss.

Speechless......
enough to make me return to the politics of my youth... I'm all for consumerism but BAD TASTE!!! TUT!
Pixellated is Pixie speak for dumb.
Lovely blog you have here. Edward and I have enjoyed our visit.
There is no way that a sofa - even a nice one - is worth that amount of dosh. That one is truly nasty and I can't think of a setting where it would look good.
some fool will fall for it through, and believe the spiel that will transport them to the realms of uber-kewl..... for 30 seconds at least anyway.
They say one is born everyday; I just hope no one is THAT stupid, it is HIDEOUS.
Just imagine sitting on it if you have a hangover. Not that I know anything about hangovers you understand.
It's not my taste and it's certainly not worth 18 grand but I suppose in some cellar rumpus room it might look ok.
that is one nasty sofa and, no, you can tell it isn't going to be comfy - it's hard and nowhere to loll your head. More money than sense.
It would have been better if that sofa's picture had been published on April 1.
Maybe I could have it bought by the owners of my apartment building to go with The Painting in The Lobby!
Truly hideous. Can you imagine, walking into someone's house to be proudly shown the new sofa and it being THAT one? Instant migraine.
Hum, I was reading this month's edition of wanky style mag, Wallpaper (not mine, I hasten to add – it was at work and I can't get on the internet there) and there was an interview of the 'designer du jour' who came up with the pixel fabric print, a recent Central St Martin's graduate who apparently everyone's whipping themselves into a paroxysm of excitement of excitement over.
Not really feeling it myself, but then, I haven't got the best part of twenty grand to spend on a sofa, so what do I kno?
So excited there's two 'exciteds' there...
Put it this way... I wouldn't put a pixalated picture on my website, so why would I put a pixalated sofa in my living room... and pay for the pleasure of doing so?! I wouldn't pay £18.50 for it either!
I find these Sunday supplement adverts with more-than- grossly-overpriced items obscene actually
Damn it, no!!! It looks suspiciously similar (though inevitably larger) than the one we had of Adrian's from the dodgy old 80s which we, er, bunged on the dump. Could have flogged it for, hmm, at least 5K? Kicks self.
Yeah, I agree with you all - this kind of bloated consumption is really unpleasant and distasteful. Not even as if it's nice...
Good grief that's one bad sofa and so expensive it's obscene. It would be bad enough at that price in any colour - but did they have to put so many together - and all out of focus. Excuse me for being dim and unfashionable all at once, but I don't get it. At all. Oh dear.
Obscene amount of money. It'll be displayed in someone's living room and I hope they spill something on it!!

My local junk shop"Junk and Disorderly" would not be able to find room for this abomination which calls itself furniture. Thanks for saving me from stumbling on in accidentally while browsing back numbers of magazines while at the dentists waiting room.
Hello
I'm on a blog hop and have arrived here with your dreadful sofa.
It goes with the mega-priced frocks and handbags in the Sunday supplements. Surely no one ever buys them either? Not really?

Wilson and I would treat this sofa with all the respect it deserves! Thought you might be amused to know that the Onion Light is on an album cover -- of the Arctic Monkeys drummer. Sofa uncool. Onion Light, the height of cool!
Big lick to Wilson,
Onion

Are they not aware there is a credit crunch going on? Unbelievable (and it is sooo ugly!) xx
