This tree came to us as a slim twiggy stick. I think we planted it sometime last spring. It's a Victoria Plum on a dwarf rootstock.
It is probably about as tall as I am - and like me won't get any taller. It is hung about with fruit - pounds - kilos, call the quantity what you will, there is a lot of it. This little tree looks like an illustration from a horticultural catalogue where the fruit has been added in Photoshop. This is for real. Trust me.
Plums for tea. Sweet and juicy. Clafouti, jam, pickle and chutney. Suggestions please.
*Dilemma: Does Victoria's need an apostrophe or not? They are definitely plural but they don't necessarily belong to Victoria. But the plural of Victoria - 'Victorias' looked very odd. I suppose this is greengrocer territory so my bewilderment is understandable.....

Not sure about Victoria's but what a darling tree all that fruit! We have what I suspect is a Victoria that was badly damaged by the Goats it's very thin and not very tall - about 12ft and laden! Last year we took 70lbs off it!
I think in this sense, Mountainear, 'Victoria' is used as an adjective, so the proper & full term would be 'Victoria plums', as in 'red plums'. But of course, used, as it were correctly, you'd lose your rather clever pun!

I favour "Victorias", but that is because I can be pedantic about apostrophes, and especially the use of them by Greengrocers to indicate a plural....
I'm a "Victoria plums" in their entirety girl, somehow never shorten to leave the plums behind. They look gorgeous.
Victorias.
looks amazing. I planted a Victoria last November so would be astonished and delighted if it managed to fruit next year. Had a lovely day with Bodran (Jo) today. are you still on for the 21st september? Maybe lunch at mine if you promise not to expect too much of my rather scruffy garden!
I really like your blog, especially your garden photos. I don't look nearly often enough. We are today turning plums and damsons in to chutney and gin! Something for everyone.
P.S. Of course, you can, (as you have done) use it as a noun, in which case it's a straight suffix 's' to turn it into a plural.
Lizzie again!
MMMMMMMM MMMM they look lovely....
The name of that village is llanrhaedr a mochnant, or something very similar...xx
Oh wow! We left behind two full size Victoria plums at our old house and I lament them greatly - THE most delicious plums. Now I wonder where I'd get one of your shorty ones - they make a lot more sense in a smaller garden.

Wow!
Our plum tree - a Czar - has been a major disappointment this year and it's usually so good.
I am very envious.
