Games, candles, not worth the, etc.

I spy kitchen chaos. I spy the Glam Ass making ver juice. What?

Green nasty sour stuff that's what. Its very name has a medieval ring to it.

In days gone by and places far away it was probably juice from unripe grapes but in Trelystan in the first week of November 2010 it's derived from crab apples from our neighbour's tree. In days gone by it was probably valued for its acidic and astringent qualities - but is now (apparently) having a bit of revival in modern kitchens. I blame celebrity chefs.

The GA has got out the amazingly-complicated-juicing-machine (I counted at least 6 demountable parts - none of which will go into the dishwasher....) and is thrashing a basket full of apples into submission. The resultant jus, strained through muslin, is foul. Absolutely foul. The work of the Devil.
Give me a squirt of lemon juice any day.

Try it with fresh coriander leaves. They too are the work of the Devil.

Good to see the Glam Ass keeping busy - can we take it that he's better now?

It sounds as though it would cause instant diarrhea . But , not having access to crab apples , I'm unlikely to find out at first hand .
Never mind .

We have one of those juicers. It was a present from my mother, normally very good at presents. Makes great juice, drives me nuts. But ver juice now, maybe I should think again.

Hmmm, perhaps we need a ver juice review by someone who supports its production?

You've made me laugh with this report of kitchen doings. xo

BIG sympathy.
Man in the kitchen is something hugely over rated unless he is there, cooking day in and day out. This sort of production/adventure/science experiment drives me crazy.

Really pleased to see GA able to feel useful. The wounds look to be healing well [yes I did enlarge the pic to check :-) ].
Can I ask what you will be doing with the green liquid?
A x

I think I shan't be suggesting this to younger son, who has just made crab apple and chilli jelly - his first venture into such arcane activities, and so good that he's going to make twice the quantity next year.
I've been trying to think of uses for the verjuice - deterring mice, perhaps, or slugs? Clearing drains?

I'm glad that GA is back to his old self but dear God that looked sour. Makes my cheeks ache just looking at it :-)

GA obviously ahs far too much time on his hands you need to get him doing something more useful than producing vile slurry!!!We have a juiceer liek that that lives in the back of the cupboard as I can not bear the noise, resulting mess and cleaning up!
