Sweet peas

Cold winter, late spring, dry spell - everything in the garden is slow. The spinach has bolted, something horrible has happened to 3 rows of garlic and 2 hens have decided that life is too much of a trial and have, inexplicably, gone to that great roost in the sky. Sigh.

Never mind. The sweet peas are twining skyward on their canes and today I picked my first stems; fragrant beauties.

And the world seems a brighter, righter place.

So lovely! Glad to hear the beauty of a sweet pea can adjust one's perspective making for a glorious day. Perhaps I should plant some next year.

No luck with sweet peas here. I have a plant twining its way up a structure but not a bud or bloom in sight - just leaves.

Sweet peas? Wot's them? No sign of mine. I love your blue pottery though.

Shame about the chickens....

Not much luck with pansies here, better luck with morning glories.

Sad to read of the chickens' untimely demise . I'm consoled , though , by the thought of them sitting on clouds clucking along to tinkling harp music .
Could they have overdosed on the garlic , perhaps ?
Glorious sweet peas make up for everything .

Perfect sweet peas - I love them. My Dad used to grow beauties and I had the job of pinching out the side shoots - happy days!!

I adore sweet peas so it's lovely to see yours here. Pity we can't smell them too.

They look beautiful, can smell their fragrance from over here, too hot for them down South sadly.

Wonderful - wish mine would do that. They seem determine to flower one at a time. I'm hoping the rain will help.
Sorry, about the chickens.

Beautiful sweet peas. Thery remind me of when I was a kid... Mum always used to have them growing on a wall in the front garden.

Aren't they glorious? I have picked three jugs of mine and they are still flowering fit to bust.
Sorry about the hens. We haven't yet had any mystery deaths but all the hen owners I know tell me it will happen one day. Another reason for not giving this lot names perhaps!
