with apologies...

...to all my lovely male readers and to John Gray who wrote 'Men are from Mars, women are from Venus'.

I've just spent an hour in the garden and can confirm that in fact 'Women are from sweet peas, Men are from potatoes.'You heard it here first.

They are gorgeous, I forgot to plant mine early enough and now I don't have any. Potatoes? Out of the veg box only, I'm afraid.

You have given me a smille, even a bit of a laugh with that one.

Sweetpeas all the way. Yet, I do love the noble potato.

Let's see, the beauty of the sweetpea is before us ... how many weeks.

The potato is with us, well, with me year round.

Quality/quantity.

Love them both. xo

Sweet peas are one of my favs. You might have noticed they were in the recent wedding bouquet and they smelled wonderful. I can smell your down here in the valley :-) but alas even my everlasting sweet peas haven't grown this year....maybe not so everlasting eh?

Oooh, those sweet peas are fabulous! And to extend the analagy, the more you cut your sweet peas and enjoy them, the more they give you back, as opposed to potatoes that once you've dug them up, given them a quick wash and eaten them, they're gone.

Except for the ones you inadvertantly forget to dig up that come back to haunt you in the wrong place the following year.

Hmmm - I think I can feel a self-help book coming on...

I understand sweet peas (beautiful fragrant and flourish with a little TLC) - potatoes will always remain a mystery (thick skins, eyes everywhere and best kept in the dark)!!

Oh I so loved reading the sweet peas - potato comments. Emma was startled by the giggling! I've got sweet peas glowing and blooming at the end of my driveway, next to the road. They're a bit messy for this part of the state (an hour and a half north of New York. All the other neighbors have very tidy, glamorous or completely boring front yards! LOL.
